SPORT & REMEDIAL MASSAGE
No one person is the same, so why should massage treatments be the same?
Treatment is tailored to individual needs as the aim is to find the techniques and pressure your body responds to best. A combination of sports and remedial massage techniques are used during a treatment so therefore it is not necessary to specifically book for one or the other.
Before your appointment, you will be sent an online clinical intake form so that any adjustments to your appointment can be discussed ahead of time allowing for more "hands on" treatment time.
The approach of combining sport and remedial massage is a very effective way to relieve muscle tension caused by many day to day activities as well as sporting injuries and past injuries which have been poorly rehabilitated.
An oncology massage is a specialist massage for those who have been diagnosed with or are recovering from cancer. It uses expert techniques and works therapeutically to give a renewed sense of relaxation and well-being.
Each treatment is tailored to meet the unique and changing needs of the individual, taking into consideration the complexities of the condition and the symptoms.
Skilled touch is beneficial at nearly every stage of the cancer experience, during the diagnosis and prognosis stages, hospitalisation, the pre- or post-operative period, in the out-patient clinic, during chemotherapy and radiation, recovery at home, remission or cure and in the end stages of life.
Songbird Zest Liquiwax, which was originally developed in conjunction with the Iris Cancer Charity, is the preferred medium used in treatment as it is formulated without Arnica making as mild as possible for those with compromised immune system. This is just one adaption to the oncology massage treatments. Other differences during an oncology appointment can include breathing techniques, ball work and home care advice.
Your diagnosis and expectations will be discussed during your first appointment to decide what sort of treatment would be appropriate for you at the time. It is preferably to work as part of an oncology care team, which means sometimes being in touch with your specialists or other practitioners involved in your cancer journey. Please do feel free to get in touch for a no obligation chat if you are not sure if this is the right treatment for you.
DEEP TISSUE AND RELAXATION MASSAGE
You do not need an injury or soft tissue complaint to book a massage. Sometimes you need a firm, yet relaxing massage to help you cope with the stress and anxiety of every day life. Massage promotes a good night sleep and has proven to reduce chronic migraines and tension headaches. From a 30 minute back-neck-and-shoulder massage to a 90 minute full body massage - which can include hands and feet and a stimulating stomach massage if requested - it is the perfect escape from the crazy world or a lovely gift for that special someone in your life.
MYOFASCIAL DRY CUPPING MASSAGE
Cupping stimulates healing, promotes new blood vessel formation, encourages drainage of toxins and irritant chemicals in the blood and muscles as well as stretches tight fascia and muscles. It compliments your treatment by acting as an inverse deep tissue massage, giving your muscles and all round treatment.
Applied correctly, kinesiology tape creates a microscopic space between the skin and the tissues below allowing for lymph and fluid drainage as well as increasing delivery of oxygen and nutrients to accelerate healing. It also inhibits overused muscles, facilitates weak muscles and assists in mechanical correction.
